This Art Scholarships project will allow us to build the necessary background parameters and requirements for systematic optimization routine early stage production of recombinant proteins via transient expression in tobacco plants, for South Africa and the broader market plant produced pharmaceuticals.
The successful candidate will design and conduct postdoctoral research experiments and as part of the incumbent's professional development, supervision of students and routine laboratory tasks will be required. The Art Scholarships submission of progress reports on a regular basis is a condition of award.
Requirements:
Qualification required is a PhD.
Experience in routine molecular biology techniques.

Computer literacy.
Experience in the expression of foreign genes using plant-based or baculovirus-based expression system would be an advantage.
Experience in protein purification will benefit.
